New song!

I have completed the song I was writing in A harmonic minor. Mostly completed, anyway. I still need to work on transitions between riffs, but that is about it.
I have been recording the guitar parts through the USB out on my Digitech pedal. I have been using ZynAddSubFX and JACK to record keyboard parts. I have been using the Hydrogen drum machine, with the default kit, for the drums.
I will possibly record vocals with my Blue Yeti USB condenser mic.

Diatonic Keys

I have learned the diatonic key of E major. I figured it out while I was trying to learn Hunting High and Low by Stratovarius. It has 4 sharps, as opposed to C major, which has no sharp notes.

New Goals

My goals have changed a bit. While they used to be more focused on songwriting, I have decided that I should learn theory first, and then songwriting. My songwriting will be quite limited without the theory I don't know. I have also made this choice, because i am getting more into my passage than I thought I might have.
Recently, I have been recording a cover of Hunting High and Low, but it's been hard, because the floors are being redone currently. I haven't been able to get to my computer.

First Post

This quarter, for my passage, I will teach myself to play a synthesizer/keyboard. I will teach myself through the Internet, and I will teach myself to learn sheet music.
First, I will obtain a MIDI controller to plug into my computer, and use a synthesizer program with it. Second, I will learn songs that I like on the keyboard, such as simple Nightwish and Sonata Arctica keyboard parts.Third, I will learn a bit of music theory, just as much as I do on guitar. Then, I will begin to write synth parts to my own music.
My passage addresses the creativity discipline, because I will be songwriting. I will learn in mathematics by learning the math of music.
I will demonstrate my learning through my musical strength by writing music (probably power, folk, and progressive metal). I demonstrate my learning through my mathematical weakness by learning sheet music. Reading musical notes has a lot of math to it.

Since I have many musician friends, I will find one of them to be my expert. I would also like to be able to play in several keys. I'll start by just learning how to go up the scale neatly and properly, just as I would with C major (all the white keys). I will also learn how to do harmonic minor scales. I have already learned the A harmonic minor scale (which is C major with a sharp G.)
